This course meets all the criteria of the Environment Canada Contaminated Site Training Program, all Canadian Federal and Provincial requirements and U.S. EPA’s Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) requirements for entering and working on a contaminated site.
Objectives:
After completing this section, the trainee will be able to work safely and effectively at work sites that use/used hazardous materials substances produce hazardous waste and/or possessing physical/electrical/biological/radiological hazards. The trainee will be able to evaluate site hazards and implement safety procedures to protect the health and safety of site personnel. The trainee will:
- Possess the ability to recognize, evaluate and controlling site hazards;
- understand and be able to implement the concepts, principles, guidelines, and regulations for protecting the health and safety of site personnel;
- understand the fundamentals of management and organization of site operations;
- understand the uses of the various types of personal protective equipment; and
- possess the ability to use direct reading monitoring instruments.
