METI’s Financial Services is here to help you through the process of funding/financing your college diploma or certificate.

Here at METI, our Financial Services team understand the importance of choosing the best option to suit your needs. We know every student’s needs is unique.

Our Financial Services Team will provide you with the information you need about funding and financing options best suited for you.

The first step is to determine the personal and family resources that may be available. Then you can investigate other financial assistance programs.

Listed below are some resources to help you find the right financing option for your individual needs.

Student Loans (Canada/Provincial Student Assistance)

Student Loans (Canada/Provincial Student Assistance) may be obtained by eligible students. Financial Assistance for METI’s Class 1 Driver – Tractor Trailer  Program is available through the Canada/Provincial Student Loan programs. Once approval for the Occupational Health & Safety Diploma Program is received, this will also qualify for assistance. The federal and provincial governments work together to provide student financial assistance. You can begin your on-line application process for Student Assistance immediately upon submitting your application. The amount and the eligibility an individual student is entitled to may vary depending on personal circumstances. Information on loans, grants and bursaries is available through the following:

Employment Nova Scotia – Skills Development

‘Skills Development’ is an employment program of Employment Nova Scotia that provides financial assistance to eligible individuals to help them obtain the skills training they need to obtain employment. If you are presently unemployed; a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada; you are a resident of Nova Scotia at the time the completed Skills Development application is received by Employment Nova Scotia (ENS) and collecting Employment Insurance or you have a claim that ended in the last five years you may be eligible for some assistance with your training program. It can take some time to complete all the paper work, so we suggest that you begin your application process with METI and your Nova Scotia Works Centre (YMCA, Community Resource Centre etc.) without delay. Native Council of Nova Scotia

Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal peoples residing on-reserve in Nova Scotia please visit your local Reserve Band Council.

Student Line of Credit

This is a loan obtained through your financial institute that can help you pay for tuition, books, living expenses and more. METI works with RBC and many other institutes.

Payment Plans

Maritime Environmental Training Institute offers flexible payment options for individuals not using third party funding or financial aid. A payment plan can be arranged that suits both parties. Tuition and material costs are divided into payments throughout your program. The first payment is due on the first day of classes, and the final payment is due at a date determined by the your program end date. Payments are interest free while you are an enrolled. Canadian Forces Personnel Assistance

Registered Education Savings Plans

For more information, please contact the financial institution holding the RESP and visit the Government of Canada CanLearn website at: http://www.canlearn.ca Students Financial assistance may be available for out of province students who qualify. Please visit the centres in your area.
